Disney World Day 4--Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom—Best day yet! ❤️ One of those days we will look back on as one of the most fun days together with our family. And I’ll have all these photos to remind me of it all.

We started our day bright and early at "rope drop." That walk down Main Street and that first glimpse of Cinderella's Castle was just heart-warming. Magic Kingdom is my favorite. We took a Minnie Van that dropped us right at the front of the park, and we headed toward the Frontier Land entrance to ride Splash Mountain first. We all agreed that this was one thing Disney World did better than Disneyland. This ride has more drops, is longer, seats 2 people per row (or as Joel says, 2FPR--2 folks per row) rather than just one, and has more to look at than the Disneyland version. We ended up riding it 4 or 5 times throughout our week. We liked Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, a ride only in Disney World, and the kids and Greg also enjoyed the tea cups in the shade. I wisely stayed off that one and took pictures of them instead.

Grant and I rode Peter Pan together to redeem that ride in our memories. Last time we rode Peter Pan (in Disneyland), the ride broke down and the lights came on, and it was so ugly! This time was smooth sailing and beautiful.

Our much anticipated lunch at Be Our Guest restaurant was wonderful. It looked just like the ballroom in the movie! We ordered one of each of the desserts on the menu, and we all tasted each one and polished them off. Food was great, atmosphere was great, and we just really enjoyed ourselves. Totally worth getting up at 2:45am six months ago to snag our reservation. :-)

We took a roundabout way on the Monorail and then a bus to get back to the hotel again for the hot afternoon hours and then went back for the evening. We ate dinner at Pinochhio Village Haus  and walked right next door to Small World, which is very unimpressive compared to the outside of Small World in Disneyland. The Disney World Small World is like a strip mall version--super weird. Inside was pretty much the same, though! The kids were in very silly moods while we were waiting in line. Everything was making them laugh--stinky people, the lady who kept running into Greg behind him in line, and who knows what else! It was fun to watch them getting along and having a great time even while waiting in line.

Grant was very put-out that he wasn't tall enough to drive his own car in Autopia. I rode with him and pushed the gas pedal for him. He quickly got over being sad and had a great time driving.

We staked our claim on the curb early and held our ground for the fireworks that night. It wasn't easy or pleasant being jostled and pushed, but once the show started, we were glad we'd made the effort. The lighting on the castle, combined with the fireworks above, made it the best fireworks show ever!
We shut down the park that night. Our last ride was Jungle Cruise. I don’t have a photo, but our “guide” was the funniest one I’ve heard. His name was Alvie. He had us all laughing so hard—great sense of humor.
