Joel's Birthday

Joel's birthday marked the day he was allowed to start bearing weight (with crutches) on his left foot. He was very excited about not having to hold his foot up anymore. We celebrated his 14th birthday on Sunday afternoon with family. He requested cheesecake with berry sauce, and I made a Reese's chocolate and peanut butter cake, too.  His birthday gift from us was a new iphone XR. He was very happy about that. The iphone 7 was limping along, so it was time. The next day, on his actual birthday, he had no school (MLK day), so we went and bought him some new basketball shoes. He needed more ankle support, and the other ones were just not going to work. They'd been jinxed. That night our family went to The Local Cow for dinner and celebrated our favorite 14-year-old.

Honor Roll Celebrations

I was able to go to Joel's "celebration of success" but not Aubrey's. They had to change the date of Aubrey's because of a 2-hour weather delay, and I was already scheduled to sub on the day it got switched to. So, Grandma Arnold went for Aubrey's and sent me photos. I love that West Orient does this. So much attention at school goes to the kids who are disruptive and have behavior issues. It's nice to see the "good" kids recognized and celebrated for their hard work and dedication.

The last photo is one I snapped before school. All three kids were wearing red, so I had to take a picture. :-) They humored me.

Aubrey's first band concert

Aubrey's first 6th grade band concert was held in the West Orient gym. It was everything a 6th grade band concert is, and it was great to hear what they'd been learning and practicing. :-)
