Friday Evening

We went to the park this evening for Kari to play and ride her trike, but we forgot the camera, so we had to get some trike riding shots once we got home. She's gotten pretty good this summer.

Pre-crawling

Joel is finally showing a little bit of interest in learning to crawl and move.

maybe if I stretch just a little more...
resting

Kari tried to show him how it's done, but he just didn't quite get it.
(See the lovely jewelry on her upper arm? She likes wearing her bracelets above the elbow, rather than on the wrist where they don't cut off circulation.)

Moose Hunting with the Dads

Nice, huh?

"Vicki's Villa"--their lovely accommodations for their stay

While Daddy was gone...

...we went to Maggie and Sam's 1st birthday party. Kari wore the party hat all week.

...we watched things like Cinderella, Veggie Tales, and Toy Story.
...we ate fudge pops.

...and we took lots of baths just for the fun of it.

We survived with the help of grandmas and aunts and uncles. All in all not a bad week--only one trip to the pediatrician (Joel ear infection) and one call in to poison control (Kari's fine). We're very happy to have Daddy home once again!

Down to Three

Greg only worked a half day today and spent some time with the kids this afternoon before he took off for Alaska. He and his dad left this evening. They'll meet up with my dad in Galena tomorrow and head to "Vicki's Villa" to do some moose hunting. He'll be gone for 10 days total, so we're down to three in this Moffat household. Kari doesn't understand what's going on at all--poor thing. Tonight she kept saying thing like, "Daddy will come home tonight and sing and read books to me in bed after he gets a moose, ok?" We'll see how things go this week! Hopefully Greg and the dads will have a blast.

Getting some quality play-doh time in before the departure.

Andrea's Barbershop

Joel has his first haircut today. Apparently he's not too sure about his mom's haircutting skills. And yes, his hair still stands straight up. We mostly needed a trim on the sides. It's not easy cutting an almost 8 month old's hair!

This is my lovely haircutting assisant who wanted a haircut like Joel. We settled for taking her picture instead. I think she really just wanted to wear the haircutting cape.

More Outside Pics

Kari loves her baby brother, and he tolerates quite a bit of "love." :)

Beautiful Monday Morning in the backyard

We spent this bright sunny morning outside. Our neighbors just gave us this play structure. Wasn't that nice of them? Kari loves it. I told her I'd send her picture out, so she's waving to you.

Kari and Joel both love to swing. Kari doesn't like to go too "high" yet, but she's getting braver every day. See all that wood? We get to move it all into our new shed this fall.
Just relaxing in the swing--pretty comfy.
Kari doesn't like to hold still for pictures, so here's an action shot.

Our weekend

This is what we do--sit and smile. Isn't the hair great?

Biter biscuit mess.

Kari helped me scrub the potatos from our garden. Being the good little helper that she is, she even washed them with that antibacterial hand soap you see in the background. (We washed them again.)

The wood/tool shed is complete, thanks to the help of dads and brothers this last weekend. Just have some finishing work to do, and then we can fill it up.

Eric and Leah have inspired us to try this out for ourselves. We'll see how it goes!

The family photo is from the first of our two fun vacations to the beach in August. We went to Lincoln City for a week with Greg's family, and then went with Andrea's family to Rockaway Beach for a week.

Kari LOVED running wild and free on the beach!

Here are all the cousins at the beach. From the left: Lorelai, Ashlynn, Maggie, Sam, Kari, and Joel.

Uncle Brian and Aunt Emily introduced Kari to s'mores. She was a fan.

Just a cute Joel picture.
