Disney World Day 2--Animal Kingdom

Day 2 Animal Kingdom—After getting less than 5 hours of sleep, we hit the park at 6:30am to ride Flight of Passage first thing, along with all the other loony people during the Extra Magic Hour. It was totally worth it! Amazing ride! We headed over to the Kilimanjaro Safari right after that and only had a 10 minute wait! Saw lots of animals. It was great! It was also crazy hot and humid, which added an extra layer of challenge for our family, as I suspected it might. We just could not get over how hot and sticky it was, even early in the morning.

Next, we headed toward Exhibition Everest, one of the best roller coaster rides in all the parks. It was so great, we decided to do it again since we had fastpasses. It was a bad idea for me to do it again. I ended up on the ground (literally) afterward for 40 minutes, trying to recover from extreme motion sickness and trying to not faint. I eventually moved up to a concrete bench, and Greg went and got the kids a cold treat to eat while they waited. I can laugh now, but it wasn’t pretty at the time. I think it was a combination of motion sickness from going backwards on the ride, then doing it again, and the heat/humidity factor.  I wasn't feeling great after the first time, but everyone was so excited to do it again, I went along with them. I knew it was a bad idea as soon as the ride started. I was literally leaning over the side, heaving, and trying not to throw up. It was bad! It was at that point when my hair had to go up. Once I was recovered enough to move on, we stood in line to get nice and wet on the river rapids ride. That was a good idea! A little later Aubrey had a mini-meltdown when we just missed the cut-off for the Lion King show after standing in line for a 1/2 hour. She was hot, tired, and hungry. The photos in front of the tree with the waterfall behind us captured this moment. Greg had just asked a stranger to take our family photos, not realizing Aubrey was crying and upset. She tried to smile through tears and cries of, "I don't want a picture right now!" I didn't have much sympathy, but Greg did, so he comforted her and helped her turn it around. We had a great lunch in A/C at the Yak and Yeti and enjoyed the Lion King Show after lunch. It was just too hot in the afternoon, and we were all spent, so we headed back to the hotel to rest. Greg and I took a nap, but the kids stayed awake, revived just by being in the A/C of our suite. We headed back to Animal Kingdom around 5:00pm. Our dinner at the Satu'lil Canteen was really good! We got a couple extra dishes to try since the kitchen messed up someone's order. We had plenty of food, and we got to try the blue and yellow dessert we'd seen on a Disney food video. We used our fastpass to ride Flight of Passage again went on the rapids ride again, which soaked us and cooled us down nicely.  The Tree of Life was beautiful at night. We shut the park down, doing everything we wanted to do in Animal Kingdom. We made the most of our time and had a great evening together!

Greg told Joel to give him a face that shows how he felt about very large cats.
