Beach Retreat

While Greg was in Texas, Kari and Joel went on the high school beach retreat. There was some drama leading up to their departure, with Kari trying to figure out if she'd make it on the late van due to her tennis match and Joel trying to decide if it was worth the risk of possibly getting quarantined from tennis (we had an issue earlier in the week with an exposure at youth group, but it didn't end up affecting Joel since he had a tennis match and was late that night). He ended up deciding to go, and it was the right decision. They had a great weekend!

Kari shared her testimony, which was a big, brave step for her. She let me read what she'd written before they left, and it made me cry. It is the absolute best thing ever to see and hear that your kid is walking in faith and following hard after Jesus. I heard from a couple different people, who were at the retreat, that she did a great job sharing. She got nervous and emotional while she was talking, and she stopped and took a lap around the living room. :-) The other kids were cheering her on and lending their support. She made it through. We were so proud of her.
