Spring Break CA Road Trip, Part 3

We visited Joshua Tree National Park at the tail end of our trip before heading north toward home. I'm so glad we decided to do it. I wish Kari could have been with us because she would have loved climbing on all the rocks. It was very cold and windy, even saw a few snowflakes, but it was so worth seeing it all.

Joel and Camden had a big of an adventure where we stopped for lunch. They disappeared to go exploring, and as we came around the walking path loop, we looked up and saw two tiny figures at the top of a huge rock. Those ant-like figures were our kids! Terrifying! When they came back down, they were breathless and grinning, saying that was one of the most fun half hours of their lives.

Our drive north after we left the park was pretty uneventful. We drove as long as we could that day and got to our hotel just north of Sacramento around 11pm. Turns out this hotel was even worse than the other one! It was sketch. The Pates had police knocking on their door at 3am. They had the wrong room, but they were looking for the owners of a trailer that had been stolen out of the parking lot. We couldn't get out of that place fast enough the next morning.

We stopped for lunch in Ashland at MOD Pizza and headed home! What a great week it was, mishaps, adventures, and all.
