Stuck

We were getting ready for church when Greg got a phone call...from Aubrey. She was stuck in the upstairs bathroom. The doorknob failed. She had been getting ready and doing her hair, and when she turned the knob to come out, the door wouldn't open. It hadn't even been locked. She had been yelling but we hadn't heard her. Thankfully, she had her phone with her. She'd tried texting, but we hadn't seen her texts, so she called. We were supposed to leave for church in half an hour, and I was opening the service. We tried the credit card trick for a while without success. Greg slid a screwdriver under the door for her to take out the screws on the doorknob, but that didn't work either. They got the knob out, but the mechanism was broken, and she was still stuck. The rest of us were laughing pretty hard. I was taking photos. Greg was less amused. He thought he might have to break the door down. He resorted to banging the metal with a chisel and hammer, and eventually, she was freed! And we made it to church on time. Made for a great story and social media post. :-) This is the second time this has happened. We must have faulty doorknobs in this house. I wonder who will get stuck next?
