Maui: Exploring the South

Greg's birthday breakfast at the Gazebo restaurant started the day off right. It was delicious, probably my favorite meal on Maui. An omlette with all kinds of yummy stuff in it, and white chocolate chip macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup. So good! Mmmm.

After breakfast, we drove down south to the Miller's place in Kihei to explore their beaches. This spot, "Secret Beach," was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The color of the water was unreal, kind of a turquoise, blue/green.

Around the corner from the most beautiful spot I've ever seen, we tried to snorkel...and failed. The Death Waves got Christine and I, but we made it out alive, with some help. Snorkel fail #1

We stopped in and saw as many beaches as we could that day. We walked past the Grand Wailea and other fancy resorts and marveled at the cost to stay there. Even the cost of a cabana rental was outrageous! Christine and I made peace with the ocean on "their beach" (the one right in front of where they stayed) and stood out in the waves and chatted while the guys snorkled--no Death Waves there.

Dinner at Three's Grill--tasty!
