Cousin time

While our sophomores and Aubs went on their "8th grade trip," the trip that got postponed due to covid, Ashlynn, Brennan, and Bailey came to stay with us. Ryan and Michelle were in CA celebrating their 20th anniversary. Kari and I had just gotten back from our CA college trip, so we came home to a houseful. The kids had a blast being together. We had Grant's bday pool party that week, watched some tennis, and picked blueberries. Ashlynn was able to come with Kari and I when Kari had her sunrise senior photo shoot, and we took some fun photos of them afterwards. The session couldn't have gone better. Kari relaxed and enjoyed and embraced the experience. We had four outfit changes, including one in the forest. :) Hannah was great and had a lot of fun doing the senior shoot with Kari.

When the kids got back from the 8th grade trip, we had Lorelai here with us for a couple days before Ryan and Michelle came back that Friday night. They all took off for home that Saturday, and then Sunday they found out they had COVID. It was actually pretty funny because Michelle thought she just had a cold that week on their vacation. They walked 10 miles a day, and she thought she was achy just from walking. Lorelai, it turns out, hadn't been feeling well all week but hadn't said anything. Then Ryan started feeling bad on their way home on Saturday. They tested Sunday, and Ryan and Lorelai were both positive. They figured out that they had likely been exposed at Silverwood up in Idaho where they had just come from prior to coming to Portland. Our family's natural immunity held strong, though, and none of us got sick, and neither grandparent got sick either. They had the vaccine but had never had covid. We were happy to know our antibodies were still working!
