Aubrey and I were in Roseburg for the weekend, and Greg and Grant were in Bend that same weekend. Lots of tennis. The boys has a bit of a tough time, as they were in a bracket a big too high for them, due to the top player pulling out with injury. However, Grant and his partner, Luke, finally got a win in an intense match. He was so happy! And I was so happy that Greg was able to be there to witness it. Grant has struggled with loss after loss so far this season, as a freshman on varsity. (It's actually been really difficult--lots of emotion and frustration--and I'm to glad to have reinforcements back again to handle it all.) Getting a win was a big morale booster, and his team rallied around them and celebrated with a good dousing with water afterward. Greg sent me the video, so I got to see it, too.
Aubrey had a great weekend of tennis and a great weekend of supporting and cheering on her teammates. She's team caption and the only senior on the team. I was proud of her for how she led and encouraged her teammates. She went 4-0, too, and played really well in all her matches. It was fun to watch. I wished Greg could have been there to see it, but we can't be in two places at once!
The guys got home from Bend at 6:30pm, and I was just a bit jealous. Aubrey and Reagan had just finished a great match, coming from behind to win, and we were still cheering on her teammates in the last two matches at that time. We packed up and had one last meal at In-n-Out at 8:30pm, with the three hour drive still ahead of us. I struggled big-time to stay awake on the drive home and wasn't sure I was going to make it. I woke up Aubrey about half way through and asked her to talk to me--about anything! I just needed help to stay awake. We made it, barely, back to Barlow to drop off the other girls, and then home.
