The weather held up nicely for tennis districts this year. Aubrey and Halzie got a rough draw and lost to a tough team on day 2. It was a bummer to end that way, not what she and Halzie had hoped for, but she went and cheered on her teammates after her initial disappointment and frustration. The girls they lost to were not nice, and Aubrey did NOT like losing to them. Barlow ended up winning districts, though, which was great. Grant and Luke won a match and helped their team with districts, so even though that was their only win, they contributed and had a good experience. I enjoyed taking two days off work and watching tennis in the sun.
Several weeks later, both kids had their end-of-season awards. Grant won "best freshman," and at her awards night, Aubrey was recognized as "most inspirational" by her teammates and also received the "coaches award," both great honors. We're proud of our kids and their tennis accomplishments but even more so, their strong character.
