Everyone was able to make it to the Arnold family beach trip this year. Rockaway Beach is a crazy place on the 4th of July. This was our first experience there on the fourth and one of our favorite times at the beach, despite some health challenges with G&G.
We took Rebecca with us to Cannon Beach for crepes the first morning we were there. Her family goes to her grandma's beach house in Rockaway every year on the 4th, so we just picked her up in town. Greg got an enormous bag of taffy, and Kari got her sipping chocolate with Grandma. The morning of the fourth, we experienced the small town parade that shut down/diverted Hwy 101 for an hour. It was highly entertaining!
The fireworks were insane on the beach that night. The Rockaway town celebration was pretty amazing. We were amazed at the number of huge (illegal) fireworks people were setting off all up and down the beach. It was a great show and very handy that we could walk right out from the house and sit in our chairs in the sand to see it all.
It all ended rather abruptly the next morning, as Dad wasn't feeling well and needed to get back to town for a prescription, and Mom couldn't get around well after dislocating her toe the night before. (She was not good with crutches.) We packed them up quickly and sent them on their way as soon as we could. Those things aside, it was a great beach trip together!
