Some of you know my father-in-law, Mark Moffat, was diagnosed with Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) a little over 2 years ago. Scar tissue builds up on the walls of the alveoli (the sacs in the lungs that pass oxygen), making it progressively difficult for oxygen gas to pass into the blood stream. Several months ago, his doctor recommended looking into a lung transplant, and so they began the long list of tests and procedures to see if he was a candidate. The disease has progressed to the point that he now has to be on oxygen at all times. Well, today he found out that he is a candidate and is officially on the list for a lung transplant! It will likely happen within the next 2 months. When he gets the call, he will have to go by air ambulance down to the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center for the surgery and will be down there for 3 months after the transplant. His CaringBridge page has the details, but if you are interested in supporting them, you can check it out for more info. We would appreciate your prayers as they wait for that call and continue on this journey.
