We tried to go to the secret coffee shop in Portland for Rachael's birthday, but they ended up being closed on New Year's Day (even though their social media said they were open), so we pivoted and ended up going to The Screen Door for brunch instead. There was a bit of a wait, so we wandered around Powell's Books, just across the street, until our table was ready. Brunch was delicious! Their praline bacon is amazing. It was a fun adventure for this birthday outing.
