Kari, Aubrey, and Grant all went to school the Tuesday after Labor Day, but Joel had an extra day of summer. Grandma Moffat took him to Shoot 360 in the morning, and then he got to go with his friends to Wunderland and play laser tag.
Kari's first day of high school was a success! She talked for 20 minutes, telling Greg and I all about her first day, her classes, and who she talked with. Aubrey and Grant's first days went well, too! Joel's first day of school went well, so we thought, until 15 minutes after he went to bed and came out and said he needed to tell us about something that happened at school. Turns out, a girl at school, who apparently likes Joel, went around with her friends, telling everyone that she and Joel were dating. He didn't like it and didn't know what to do about it. Poor guy! We were relieved to know that that's all he was worried about, and that it was nothing more serious! This, we could deal with. We asked questions and talked things through with him, giving him some ideas of things he could say and do. Greg told him to use humor and say, "Well, I am pretty likeable, so I can see why she likes me, but no, we're not dating." Ha! He used a version of that line the next day and hasn't had a problem with her since. ;-)
