Day of Adventure Through the Gorge

which left Kari as the only "kid" at home with us for the weekend.

Not often we get a day with just our eldest! She’s the only one home this weekend (Aubrey in Mexico, Joel was in Riverside, CA, for Rebecca's brother's wedding, and Grant on his 8th grade trip with Brennan and Grandpa and Grandma), and we convinced her to join us for a little adventure. We stopped at Wyeth Trailhead and hiked back to Gorton Creek Falls. She climbed all the way up to the waterfall. We made it partway and decided it would be best to stop before we endangered ourselves any more. It was a good decision. Such a fun day—gorgeous weather and great company! We ate outside on the railing at Solstice Pizza, walked along the waterfront, watched the wind surfers, Greg and Kari got coffee, and then we drove to Hope Ranch Lavender farm, took a few photos, enjoyed the ambience, and then headed home with a short stop for ice cream in Cascade Locks. I took a glorious nap when we got home, too. I love summer.

Senior Photo Shoot

We met Stephanie at Fort Vancouver for Aubrey's senior photo session. I was the pack horse and carried Aubrey's changes of clothes and shoes from place to place. The weather was cooperated (rain was in the forecast for the following days), and it was a lovely evening. I loved tagging along and watching Stephanie work. Aubrey was relaxed and seemed to be enjoying it. The colors of the flowers happened to work perfectly with the outfits she chose. I think the photos will turn out beautifully.

Father's Day

Greg wanted to see the newest (last) Mission Impossible movie on Father's Day, so that's what we did. It was really good!

Last day at West O

Last day at West Orient Middle School for Grant. 💜🖤 And last day of middle school ever for our family! 🥳 We’re pretty proud of this kid—a student leader at his school, leader at FCA, and one of the recipients of the citizenship award tonight at promotion. It has not been an easy three years, but he persevered and finished well, with a smile and positive attitude. He had so many great teachers and staff members who helped him navigate it all. His 8th grade year was definitely his best. On to Barlow in the fall! 💙💛
