Aubrey Basketball

Aubrey played on her 8th grade school basketball team and her Barlow youth tournament team this year. Greg and Maya's dad, Josh, coached the girls, and the team had a lot of fun being together again after not getting to play for the last couple years due to covid. Greg's basketball coaching days are officially over now. :)

Aubrey's 14th Birthday

Aubrey asked for cheesecake for her birthday dessert, so that is what we had. She invited Halzie and Abby over to have pizza and spend the night. She wanted to go to the boys basketball game that night, too, and her friends obliged. The next morning I took them to a pottery place, and they picked out ceramic mugs to paint. I went back a week later  to pick up the mugs after they'd been glazed and fired. They turned out so cute! Aubrey's is the yellow one.

Snow Day

The kids and I had a snow day one day in February. It wasn't a lot of snow, but it was enough for the school district to cancel school. It also was the first time I've actually been paid on a snow day! :) I was grateful for a bonus day to work and get things done.

Snowball

Snowball, Barlow's winter formal, normally happens in December before Christmas. This year it was delayed to January because of covid and then delayed again to February and even then, it was held outside. We were just glad the kids finally got to have and experience like this after missing out on so many things.

Joel went with a large group of friends. Aubrey C. was his date for the evening. Kari went with girlfriends and went reluctantly. It was confirmed yet again, that dances are not her thing. She ended up leaving the dance floor and sitting on a bench by herself for a while, content to just sit and watch. Boaz joined her on her bench and chatted for a bit. Meanwhile, Joel was dancing the night away and said he wished it could have been longer. :)

One of the fun memories of the night for Joel was playing Uno with the principal, Mr. Schmidt. After such a long time of nothing fun for the kids, the staff members who chaperoned the dance commented afterward on how great it was to see students having fun together again at a school event.
