"Thanks, Jane!"

Kari is loving her crown. It was sweet of you to think of her, Janie.
(She's saying "Thanks, Jane!" in the top photo.)

Family Portrait

This is our first official family portrait. We tried to do one when Kari was about a year old, but it didn't work. She was crying in all the pictures. Joel's not smiling, but we decided three out of four of us wasn't too bad.

Christmas Tree Decorating = Hours of Entertainment

Kari was very excited to decorate our Christmas tree. We let her do it by herself.

She started by placing all the ornaments in one small section. I hear most kids do that.

When she ran out of ornaments to hang, she decided she wanted to do it again and proceeded to take them all off so she could put them on again. The second round of decorating proved to be a little more sophisticated. She got out the chairs.
We redistributed after she went to bed.

(This is my 6th attempt at posting these photos. I really don't like blogger in beta. )

Fetching our Tree

Kari disappeared through the trees, and soon we heard a faint little voice calling us. She was quite a ways down the hill in the trees all by herself, having a great time.

It was a Moffat family affair this year.
Leah's parents were up for the weekend, and they came, too.

Problems with Blogger

I haven't been able to login for the last several days, and for some reason, I can't post pictures. Hopefully I'll figure out it out soon. I'm having blogging withdrawals.

Scooter Joel

Joel gets around by scooting on his tush. He can get pretty much anywhere he wants to now. Why should he crawl?

I think it may be time to start moving non-board books off the bottom shelves. We're kid-proofed right now, but not baby-proofed. Better get going on that.

It's fun to make a mess. No finger paints for you yet, Joel-boy.

Finger Painting

Kari's thoroughly enjoyed her first finger painting experience. Am I a bad mom for not introducing this fun, messy art (or any messy art) sooner? Thanks for the vinyl apron, Mom. :)

Tubes are in!

No photo today, but Joel is doing well. We were home from the hospital by 8:15am. The doctor said things went just fine. They got all the gunk out and the tubes in, and now we just have to put some antibiotic drops in his ears for a couple of days. Thanks for praying for us. It was just a quick, minor procedure, but anytime your baby has to be in the hospital and put out is no fun. We're glad it's done!

Tubes for Joel

We have to be at the hospital at 6:00am tomorrow morning. Joel is getting tubes put in his ears, and we'll hopefully be seeing many more happy Joel faces (and hopefully be seeing a lot less of our pediatrician's office).

Burnt Purse

I was trying to multi-task--talk on the phone and microwave Joel's dinner--but I wasn't very successful. You shouldn't try to multi-task when you have a bad head/sinus cold. I smelled smoke. Something was burning, and it wasn't Joel's dinner. Kari's foofy red purse was on fire in the microwave! I grabbed it, and threw it outside. Everything was ok.

The kleenex and some "coupons" burned, but the purse was only singed. Kari is quite the hoarder and packrat. She gathers and then stashes. She can almost always tell you where something is if you can't find it, but today she misplaced her purse. We need a microhood.

Moffat Birthday Gathering

We all went to Grandpa and Grandma Moffat's house on Saturday to celebrate Uncle Ryan's birthday. Uncle Marty and Aunt Nikki were in town, so we got to see them before they headed back home. It was great to see you guys!

The kids (and Grandpa) had fun with the dress-up box and all the hats.

Joel was grateful to Aunt Leah for getting him out of the Johnny Jump-Up. He loves his Johnny time, but not when everyone else is in the other room!

Kari and her babies

It hasn't occurred to me to document much of the last several days . Poor Joel is trying hard not to get another ear infection. Kari asked me to take these pictures. She wanted another photo with "her babies" (Joel included, since he's her's, you know).

Far left is "Chou-Chou," then "Lisa," "Nanna," and "Button," pronounced "But-ton"(the bear)

After Dinner Silliness

Nothing exciting happened today (well, our back fence blew down--sort of exciting when it happened), but I still wanted to post some pictures. Kari was being very silly this evening! Daddy was, too, with "the face."

Watching the silliness.

Kari kept saying, "I hear a pretend Kari doo-doo," whatever that is!

Look at that face!

Our Morning Glories

Almost every morning Kari climbs in our bed, and we go get Joel out of his crib, and bring him back to hang out in the "nice warm bed" for a while to wake up. Kari loves to hold Joel these days, even though he weighs almost as much as she does. (She's got him by 9 or 10 lbs.)

That's Joel's "I think I'm done being held" smile.

Happy Birthday, Aunt "Emmie!"

Yesterday was Aunt Emily's birthday. Happy birthday, Emily!
Here's a nice candid shot of us at Red Robin.

Pumpkin pie was her dessert of choice. (Joel was a fan.)

Do you recognize the book Grandpa's reading to Kari?
(His favorite--Prince Bertram the Bad)

Joel is still not crawling. Grandma's trying to get him to walk along the furniture. He's just content being immobile, I guess. He does, however, think banging his hands on the couch is fun.
